Inal Tasoev can finally smile for a world title
In the final showdown of the World Championships in Hungary, Guram Inal Tasoev reclaimed the world title in the +100 kg category, capping off the event with a gripping contest. His opponent, Georgia’s Guram Tushishvili, carried the hopes of his nation and the support of an energized crowd, and he gave everything in pursuit of gold. From the opening exchange, both athletes brought relentless intensity, making it a worthy finale.

Preview +100kg World Championships Budapest
With France's Teddy Riner out of the picture, we won't get to see the ultimate rematch between him and Russia's Inal Tasoev (fighting under the IJF banner). Both players were controversially awarded the gold medal for the 2023 Doha World Championships after a referee's mistake messed up the outcome of the match.

Ramazan Abdulaev back in top form with victory in Astana
In the final for men U66kg Gusman Kyrgyzbayev’s will to win would be tested to its maximum. Ramazan Abdulaev (IJF) already has 4 grand slam gold medals and he would very much like a fifth. At the halfway point Kyrgyzbayev was down two penalties to one and the crowd were increasing their volume as if to lend him some extra strength but Abdulaev was unfazed and threw with a stunning ko-soto-gari for waza-ari. He held his nerve and his ground to the end of the allotted time to claim the fifth title he had come for. Abdulaev is among the five players who won two World Tour events this year. Inal Tasoev, Dzhafar Kostoev, Amandine Buchard and Szofi Ozbas.

Inal Tasoev invincible with third European victory
In the men’s heavyweight final of the European Championships in Podgorica, Inal Tasoev of the IJF team successfully defended his title. The former World Champion was the one to beat, overcoming a series of top athletes along the way, including double Olympic Champion Lukas Krpalek of the Czech Republic.

Second Grand Slam victory for Inal Tasoev this season
In the last final of the tournament in Tbilisi for heavyweights between Guram Tushishvili and Inal Tasoev, we expected a strong kumi-kata battle and we got it. It was tense, it was sharp, it was very strong. During the first half of the contest, Tushishvili had the advantage, pushing Tasoev to be penalised, but there is nothing stronger than a disturbed wasp and Tasoev bit with a seoi-otoshi that was awarded a yuko.
