Rangers deal goalie Georgiev to Avs for 3 picks
The Colorado Avalanche acquired goalie Alexandar Georgiev from the New York Rangers for three NHL draft picks, as the Stanley Cup champions reshuffle their goaltending for next season.

Rangers' NHL expansion-draft list: Kevin Rooney protected
The Rangers’ protection list for the upcoming expansion draft for the new Seattle Kraken franchise offered no major surprises. The Blueshirts protected seven forwards, three defensemen and goalie Alexandar Georgiev, with their most notable exposures including newly acquired pending free agent Barclay Goodrow, fellow forwards Julien Gauthier, Colin Blackwell and Phillip Di Giuseppe, defensemen Tony DeAngelo, Anthony Bitetto and Brendan Smith and third-string goalie Keith Kinkaid.

Julien Gauthier's Rangers future could change with new coach
Unless the Rangers make player personnel moves before the NHL invokes its temporary roster freeze on July 17, the choices appear clear cut under the one-goaltender, three-defensemen, seven-forward protection formula. All the choices, that is, except for the identity of the seventh forward. In goal, Igor Shesterkin is exempt, so the Rangers would protect Alex Georgiev while exposing Keith Kinkaid.

T.J. Oshie had a hat trick, Vitek Vanecek made 19 saves and the Washington Capitals beat the depleted New York Rangers 4-2 in a fight-filled game Wednesday night. Oshie beat Alexandar Georgiev 12 seconds into the middle period with a shot from the right circle with Rangers forward Pavel Buchnevich in the penalty box. Oshie scored again at 8:26 of the second - again with Buchnevich penalized for a high-sticking major - his 20th goal of the season.
