Tajik Somon Makhmadbekov World Number One in IJF World Ranking
Tajik judoka Somon Makhmadbekov has made history by becoming the first Tajik athlete since Temur Rakhimov to reach the number one position in the IJF World Ranking. Makhmadbekov now leads the U81kg category after his victory at the Dushanbe Grand Slam, held on home soil. Although he lost the final of the Asian Championships in April, the silver medal still earned him valuable ranking points. He capped off the season with a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Temur Rakhimov delivers golden glory on home soil
Dushanbe erupted in celebration as Tajikistan’s judo icon Temur Rakhimov clinched gold in the men’s +100kg final, defeating Dzhamal Gamzatkhanov of Azerbaijan with a perfectly timed uki-otoshi in golden score. With two penalties already to his name, the pressure was immense, but Rakhimov stayed composed to deliver the winning move and send the home crowd into raptures.

JO 2024 - Judo. Le Français Teddy Riner qualifié pour la finale des + 100 kg grâce à un ippon
Quelques minutes après la demi-finale perdue par Romane Dicko (+ 78 kg), Teddy Riner faisait son apparition sur le tatami de l’Arena du Champ-de-Mars (Paris), afin de tenter de se qualifier pour la finale des + 100 kg. Le Français s’est imposé sur ippon contre le Tadjik Temur Rakhimov, et tentera d’aller chercher un troisième titre olympique dans quelques minutes.
