First back-to-back gold for Japan after Sanshiro Murao grabs title
In a tense and technically measured all-Japanese final at the 2025 World Judo Championships in Budapest, Sanshiro Murao finally realized his long-held dream by becoming the world champion in the men’s -90kg category. The clash between Murao, the 2024 Olympic silver medallist, and Goki Tajima, the reigning world champion, was expected to be a high-level affair, and it lived up to that billing, even if it ended without a single score on the board.
