The Jeon Ki-Young Story Part 2: 1995 Tokyo World Championships
Many people wanted to see a Jeon Ki-Young vs Hidehiko Yoshida rematch after Jeon's world title in 1993 but back then, international competitions were a rarity. The IJF World Tour didn’t exist and there were no Grand Slams or Grand Prix where they could meet. Furthermore, the World Championships were also held only once every two years. Judo fans had to wait until the 1995 World Championships for that rematch to happen. But happen it did. Oon Yeoh writes about the best ever Korean judoka.

Tsukasa Yoshida back with gold at IJF Judo Masters
Being world number one Jessica Klimkait of Canada had a great card to play to consolidate her role as world leader. However, she found in her path an increasingly successful Frenchwoman Sarah Leonie Cysique (FRA), whose technical outbursts had impressed during the 2019 world championships, although she could not climb on the podium.

Is judo a guarantee to be a top fighter in MMA
It’s hard to predict whether judoka are the ideal MMA fighters. Most fighters in Mixed Martial arts weren’t successful judoka. Some exceptions obviously with Kayla Harrison, Pawel Nastula, Satoshi Ishii and Hidehiko Yoshida, but not all were great MMA fighters. The best MMA fighters with a judo background seemed to be mediocre in their first sport judo.
